Hold on to your hats and your wallets- especially your wallet because Erdem x H&M is here! The red carpet favorite of many celebrities is joining the ranks of Karl Lagerfeld, Marni, Maison Margiela, Versace, Isabel Marant, and Lanvin to become the next designer to collaborate with the high street brand.
“I am so happy to collaborate with H&M, and to explore my work on a whole new scale including a menswear collection which I have never done before,” said Moralioglu today. To mark the collaboration, the designer collaborated with filmmaker Baz Luhrmann to bring the collection to life. “It’s also such a thrill to work with Baz Luhrmann, one of the most important storytellers of our time,” he added.
“For me, fashion is always about more than just clothing, it is a form of expression – a standalone art form,” said Luhrmann. “I am excited to be collaborating with Erdem and H&M to reveal the story of this unique collection.”
Erdem x H&M not only adds a lucrative financial injection during a stale period for both brands but also brings Erdem’s hefty price tagged style aesthetic to us mere mortals.
Erdem starts around the $650 mark and goes upwards to nearly $6,000. Couture pieces, can and do surpass even that. Last years, designer collaboration brought pieces that started at $9 and ready-to-wear at $35.
Erdem x H&M not only brings both companies notoriety but also helps fill the pockets of frequent resellers. If past collections are to be taken into account, in a matter of hours, items will be sold out and pop up on eBay for sometimes double the price.
Take a look at Erdem’s roll call of red-carpet hits, worn by actresses, celebrities, and even royalty. We can’t wait to add our name to the list when Erdem x H&M rolls around this November.
Unlike other collaborations, Erdem x H&M isn’t dulling down its bold lines, overtly feminine prints and embroidery for its high street collection.
