Sick and tired of the same old, same old? Do you want to try something different, that will make you stand out from the crowd? If you are brave and adventurous with your personal style, then try out this season’s hottest trend – vinyl. Vinyl and PVC have been taking the fashion world by storm over the past year, but now, you can get them anywhere on any budget – everyone from Saint Laurent to Topshop have you covered!

Like with every trend – there are a few do’s and don’ts…. Vinyl can be considered tricky to wear, but don’t let that put you off. What we mean is that it’s not necessarily something that goes with everything in your wardrobe. Layering it under faux suede jackets is a big no no for example – it can risk looking tacky, and definitely don’t try PVC and vinyl all at once – that’s way too much plastic in one go! That doesn’t mean to say you can’t experiment with fun faux fabric, as you’re soon to find out…

Vinyl skirts are one of the easiest ways to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe without losing your usual vibe. Teaming them with knitwear tones the vinyl down and makes it easier to wear casually for example. Throwing on a grungy denim jacket or Dr Martens gives them a casual, yet rockier feel, and will make you feel oh so cool. If you want to wear a dressier look, then we recommend layering a necklace over a band tee and throwing on some heels. Plus, you can get these skirts in some seriously cool shades – go basic with black, or try out our favorite color of the season – bright red.

If someone can inspire us to try out this trend, it’s Alexa Chung. Straight leg jeans, Mary Janes and a vinyl trench make such a retro outfit, and we love it! You can even get vinyl/shearling jackets now, so you can look awesome even when the weather, well, isn’t.

Are you tired of your denim? Or do you feel it’s a bit too casual? Spice things up with vinyl trousers. Whether you are looking for a straight leg, or even paper bag pants, the possibilities are endless! We love how they can take you from a girly look to a grungier feel, without totally losing your style identity. We also love Le Fashion’s idea of layering the vinyl pants over fishnet tights to vamp up her outfit – so winter 2017!

Last but definitely not least, vinyl boots are so in right now – especially with the 60s trend being present in a lot of collections. Gogo boots seem to be the go-to shoe, but don’t worry, if you’re not into the retro look so much, you can still wear a classy look with sock boots. Dare to be different and pair your boots with another item of vinyl clothing to add extra texture to your outfit, and make sure it’s 100% grungy! Experiment with your wardrobe to find ways to wear it with confidence and ease!
